Danish Climate Act and Carbon Neutrality Target

The Climate Act of 2020 is the set of objectives regarding decreasing Denmark’s CO2 emissions, and it has passed from the Danish parliament with an astonishing 94% approval rate to become legally binding.

The act declares that Denmark must strive to reduce its carbon emissions by 70% until 2030, and must become totally carbon-neutral by 2045. Denmark has been successful in decreasing its greenhouse emissions through investments in renewable energy and sustainability policies that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Denmark will decrease CO2 emissions nationally by 110 percent – reaching a negative level – in 2050 compared to 1990 levels.
